I had another really great stay at another BRAND new hotel. This time I spent the night at the five month new Sheraton Mesa Hotel Wrigleyville West. If you’re not a baseball fan you might not know that the area around Wrigley Field in Chicago is called Wrigleyville. Since this hotel is in the parking lot of the Spring Training home of the Cubbies (sorry maybe next year, I was rooting for you) they’ve adopted that name at their Spring Training home in Mesa, Arizona too.
The lobby was amazing. It was a large expansive space with many smaller seating areas a two sided fireplace and a huge bar and restaurant. I was impressed at how much was invested in this space. I’m guessing it’s to attract many happy fans from across the parking lot for six weeks during the Spring, and possibly convention traffic and golfers too. As you can see from the copious pictures the lobby keeps on going and going. I’m curious how fun this place will be before and after a game next year. I’ve hope they have a mean tailgate.
Above: As I said the lobby just keeps going and going. Below: My favorite part!! A REAL Starbucks, not just a coffee shop featuring it.
Being a Platinum SPG member, I get 10 Sweet Suite Night Rewards per yer. With the year running to a close, I thought I’d take a flier and attempt to use it at this hotel. In case you’re not familiar with there you get 10 per year if you qualify for Platinum on nights stayed (50 and not on stays 25). Maybe I’d get the Presidential Suite or something like that. Unfortunately I didn’t get that one but I did get a one-bedroom lake view suite. Needless to say I was pretty impressed. It had a huge living/sitting/bar space and an additional 1/2 bathroom to boot!
The room featured a double bar space (with seating), coffee service, mini-fridge and wet bar. It also had a sofa, coffee table and TV plus a four person distressed dining table and a work space too. If you couldn’t find a space to sit down you’re doing something wrong.
Below: 1/2 bath just off the sitting room

The bathroom featured a double sink, separate large shower with tiny shower head, a large soaking tub, a toilet room and a valet closet. The bathroom was not amazing but it was nice and bigger then the one I have at home. I really really liked it.
The bedroom was simple. But how nice does it need to be if you have a whole suite with all the other trimmings. It did have a bed, with super soft pillows and comfortable bedding plus a TV and small side chair.
Lastly the hotel did have a lounge, which is free for Platinum’s or you can pay to use it. It was not huge but did have a seating area, eating space and offered a few hot and cold items for breakfast. It also had a great view of the pool and of Wrigley Field from the balcony. The other nice part, is that they do stock it with sodas, water, coffee and tea 24/7, so you can go in whenever. This I like.
CONCLUSION: Overall a nice new property, it’ll become my go to spot for future trips for sure. I might even make my friends stay here next year when we go out for Spring Training.
