Well this was a busy year on the travel front for me. I think my 160 segments is the most I’ve flown in on year, but I’d venture to guess the mileage total was about 25,ooo miles short of my all time high. Although, I don’t have accurate records to validate against. Here’s how things broke down The 2015 Edition. Continue reading
I’ve been on a whirlwind trip over the past few days. To recap I started in Boston and flew First Class on United Airlines to Seoul via San Francisco. I then flew Asiana short haul Business Class to Tokyo Japan overnighted there at the Narita Hilton. So today I was flying my first 787 Dreamliner. I had the pleasure of flying ANA, the launch customer for this new class of plane created by Boeing. I’ve never tried hard to fly this plane, but sine its first revenue flight in October 2011 I’ve really wanted to check it out. This plane is groundbreaking in that it’s made of multiple composite materials, has a more open feel due to the Sky Interior, larger windows with gradient shading feature and also boasts a cabin pressurization of only 6000’, normally planes are pressurized at a higher level than that. This is supposed to make people feel more refreshed when flying long distances. Additionally with its increased fuel efficiency new long thin routes were hopefully going to materialize.
Last week I was featured on the awesome travel blog Million Mile Secrets and since it was my first ever interview about my blog, I’ve commemorated it with a contest. The rules and criteria are simple, in the comments section of the original post please share with my readers your most memorable trip, vacation or travel experience. On July 18th at noon PST the contest is over and soon after I’ll pick a winner. So you still have just over 24 hours to join in the discussion and get a chance to get a $25 Starbucks gift card, that will provide you with divine offerings from a very travel friendly coffee shop.
I recently picked up the Alaska Airlines Signature Visa Credit Card. So what’s the big deal? Why am I blogging about it? Well, I have one six letter word for you. Hawaii. My family and I are itching to go to Hawaii this summer, and buying tickets from anywhere on the mainland can just be astronomical. At this moment flights between June and August can be upwards of $600-$800 depending on where you are, plan to go and when.
Pete’s Dragon from Disney’s Magic Kingdom’s Electric Parade. I loved this movie as a kid, and it was just cool to see that it had not been forgotten with the dearth of parade time devoted to princesses and pirates.
I think I’m falling in love, no actually I know I already have. Thankfully my wife has nothing to fear, because this love is for a lounge. The American Express Centurion Lounge at DFW Airport. This place is just freaking awesome! I have only been here two times, but it is now my gold standard for which all lounges will be compared too from now on in the US. Now internationally it does stand up to many premium spaces, but the likes of what Singapore Air, Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa and Qantas offer for Business and First class passengers are more than amazing. Obsession, isn’t that a cologne? Do they even make that anymore? My wife is a really really good sport. I spend a few minutes every day scheming, scheming for where to go next. And no I don’t mean where to go tomorrow or next week, but where to go on vacation or take a quick weekend trip too. Why? Well, when you have miles to spend and there are deals to be had I just have to see what and where I/we should go. Continue reading
